Our laundry and wrap support event on Tuesday was rainy, dark and super busy. We served 167 neighbors with clean clothes and bedding, hygiene supplies, food and a safe place to connect.
We were short on volunteers so several of our neighbors who receive services (6!) jumped in and helped us with check in, food and hygiene distribution, set up and tear down, and trash pick up. Much thanks to I, J, Z, G, J, and R.
We celebrated the new year by giving out gift bags with a new hoodie or t-shirt, a Fred Meyer gift card, coffee packets, hand warmers and more thanks to Steph (Milwaukie Lutheran Church) and Aubrey (LoveOne).
We received several special requests from folks: an indoor/outdoor Mr. Buddy Heater for use in a camper, a pair of men’s warm/waterproof boots size 13 wide, and gas gift cards. If you can help with any of these requests, please PM us or email hello@loveonecommunity.org
Winter weather is here and as challenging as that makes operating outdoor events of this scale, it’s much harder on our neighbors living outside, in their vehicles or indoors without sufficient heat, food or transportation. We’re extra thankful to see some sunshine today as we write this.
